Since 2007, SOSAD has worked to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland. We have worked tirelessly in our communities to help those in need feel supported and know they are not alone on their journey. SOSAD offer support and services free of charge for people who are struggling with suicidal ideation, self harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety, or if you simply need to talk.

We have 6 offices based in Cavan, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Laois and an outreach centre in Kells.

We offer a number of free, professional services to those in need including:

• 24h helpline
• One to one counseling
• Messaging service
• Bereavement support
• Walk and talk therapy
• Drop in centre in Cavan
• Young People Matter' peer support group.

We are a self-funding charity and depend on the generosity of the public, donations, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship and once-off grants to fund our service.Any donation no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated as generosity and support allows us to keep delivering our life saving service to the community.

In 2020 across our services:

• We increased our intake by 80% on 2019 figures
• From which 43% were suicidal, self harming or had suicidal ideation
• 32% were suffering with depression/low mood
• 31% of clients presented with Anxiety as their main issue
• 10% of clients were receiving support for bereavement by suicide
