About us

Since 2007, SOSAD has worked to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland. We have worked tirelessly in our communities to help those in need feel supported and know they are not alone on their journey. SOSAD offer support and services for people who are struggling with suicidal ideation, self harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety, or if you simply need to talk.

We have 6 offices based in Cavan, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Laois and outreach centres in Kells, Duleek, Stamullen, Athy, Baileborough and Mullagh.

We offer a number of professional services to those in need including:

• 24h helpline
• One to one counseling
• Drop in centre in Cavan and Laois
• Online DBT Group

We are a self-funding charity and depend on the generosity of the public, donations, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship and once-off grants to fund our service. Any donation no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated as generosity and support allows us to keep delivering our life saving service to the community.

In 2024 across our services:

• 22,243 Hours of free-of-charge counselling offered!
• 1,914 clients seen in 2024.
• 48% Increase in Clients Supported between 2022 and 2024!
• 1,111 calls logged on our Helpline Service.
• 300 DBT Sessions Offered.
